HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed said that when the Higher Education Commission (HEC) was established in 2002, 37 percent of girls were studying in universities. However, in today’s era, the rate of female education has reached 48%, which is a positive change. This achievement shows how much importance the government has given to women’s education.

Discussion on HEC Policies
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed said that HEC has formulated a policy in universities to control the problems of harassment, which has been declared necessary to be adopted in all educational institutions. He said that the investigation into the harassment scandal of women in Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been completed and strict action has been taken in this regard. According to him, the reporting on this matter on social media was contrary to reality.
He added that after this inquiry, many people have been fired from their jobs, while some people are still in jail. This proves that the government is serious about the safety of women and their rights and a zero-tolerance policy is being adopted in such cases.
